Long Nights:

As you all know now I am working nights at Walmart as the Support Manager. Well for those of you that don't know what working nights does to one. Then here is photo of what it does to you. So to exlain a bit more about life right now this next month Robbie is working shift work with the MP's guarding the Q jets. So on my days off I still don't sleep so well at night. The photo below is what life is like here in Cold Lake at 1:30am. As you can see the sun is already rising on the morning sky. Man I think that need to get a life or try and learn to sleep at night on my nights off.

Cold Lake in the Summer:

For those of you that have not been to Cold Lake in the summer time. These are a couple photos of what the daylight is like here. I was just looking at the CBC Sask webpage where they have webcams in Regina and Saskatoon. At 10:30 at night there it is very dark out. Here at that time it is still very light as you can see below. Here the sun goes down late and starts coming back up shortly before 3am. At 9pm the sun is still very high in the sky. So now thinking back to when I was a kid and my parents telling in the summer to come home when it gets dark. Had I known about what it was like here for daylight this would be a great place to live. hehehe
This photo was taken at 9pm

My Boys of Summer:

These are my boys of summer. Robbie was out in the back yard cutting the lawn. As usual where ever Robbie is so must Rocco. The fence line was walked as always by Rocco. Making sure that nothing has come into his yard. Walking around the freshly cut yard tends to make on slightly green. Take a gander at his feet. His face and foo man choo was green as well.

HEY LIZZZARD LIZZZZARD:

Hey lizzzard lizzzzard!!! YEAH NOT going to happen Robbie. We were down at the Electric Crayon Tattoo shop visiting the gang. They have had lots of tropical fish but they kept killing them. After spend too much money on them they have changed over to Gracie's pets. They now have some creapy type of lizards there. She let Robbie hold one of them. Now he wants one. Yeah not going to happen in this house. Here are a few photos of Robbie and what he thinks are his new friends to come home to live.

Maple Flag 40 Open House:

This weekend is the 40th open house for Maple Flag. Darla and Colin arrived here on Friday night. After a night out on the town. We went to the open house on Saturday morning. These are a few photos from what we saw at the open house. This was Robbie and my first open house as well. After 6 years of being here, we took it in finally. It was quite fun with a pancake breakfast to start the morning off.

this is a photo of the Lake. We did the tourist thing around town for Darla and Colin to see Cold Lake.

These are my ladybugs. Just playing with my new camera. and having fun learning what it can do.

Do we need a road map?

This is the start of our little road trip to Wainwright, Alberta. (http://www.town.wainwright.ab.ca/index.html ) We decided to go away for the day like we used to a long time ago. Okay not so long ago but somedays it seems that way. Long before we moved to Cold Lake we would take small day trips just to get away for a bit. It had been a long time since we have done this so yesterday we decided to just up and go with Rocco. In the above photo is a weigh scale just west of Bonnyville ( http://www.town.bonnyville.ab.ca/ ) Just because we can we stop by the weigh scale to see how much the car weighs and in this case it is about 1250kgs

We went to Wainwright to visit Darla Lachance. I met her at the store reno in St. Albert this past 3 months. It was somewhere we have NEVER been before or even knew where it was or even really how to get there. Hence the title of the blog. I guess it is to be about 2 hours or so to get there but as usual it has taken us way longer.

We stopped to take pictures with our new camera ( sony cybershot-dscw80) It is a great new little camera that we have been having fun playing with these days. We stopped at Elkpoint ( http://www.shop-alberta.com/elk-point.htm) They have a huge wooden statue that we took pics at but at this moment I am having issues with the site to get them posted here.

The scenery from Cold Lake to Wainwright was beautiful. Once I get the photo up on the blog site you'll see what I mean. Stopped in Vermilion (http://www.town.vermilion.ab.ca/) as we headed south. Once in Wainwright we toured the town and in all truth be told we quite surprized. They have a cool town clock in the middle of the street and at the end of the main street is a train station. We went out to the base there to see it. For a little Army base it was nice. The new PMQs are awesome too bad they are not building them here too.

All in all the trip was fun. Looking forward to going on more day trips to other places in Alberta.
